STRENGTH.

The Dream

Tyson grew up cheering for Ohio State and his dream was to play for the Buckeyes. He set goals, worked hard, made sacrifices, and eventually earned the opportunity to be a part of the team he loved.

HOPE.

The Nightmare

During Tyson’s sophomore year, he sustained a C-4 spinal cord injury in a team scrimmage, resulting in him being paralyzed, losing all movement and sensation from the neck down.

RESILIENCE.

The Fortitude

After two major surgeries and months of rehab, Tyson regained the use of his biceps and refused to give up. Despite all the challenges, he is thankful for all the good that has come from his injury.

FROM ADVERSITY TO OPPORTUNITY

Today, as a motivational speaker, Tyson inspires audiences across the nation, sharing his remarkable story of resilience, hope, and mental fortitude. His message encourages others to embrace life’s adversities as opportunities for growth, self-discovery, and making a meaningful difference in the world. With unbreakable faith, determination and a heart full of gratitude, Tyson continues to impact lives, teaching others never to take anything for granted and to seize each day as a new chance to inspire change.

PAYING IT FORWARD

In 2014, Tyson and his wife, Megan, started New Perspective Foundation. The mission was simple: make sure families can be together after someone sustains a spinal cord injury. New Perspective helps families with their travel expenses (airfare, lodging, gas, rental car, etc.), so they can afford to be at the hospital bedside of their loved one while he or she is recovering from a spinal cord injury.
